The short version
We ask before loading optional Google Analytics: if you accept, Google Analytics runs and sets cookies so we can see which pages people find useful; if you decline, it is never loaded and no Google Analytics cookie is written. It is not advertising either way - we run no advertising scripts, we do not sell your data, and nothing you read here is shared with an advertiser. The fonts are served from this domain rather than from Google. We also measure anonymous Core Web Vitals (load speeds and responsiveness), which sets no cookies. We also use Vercel Web Analytics for website usage statistics, as described below.
The homepage video is hosted by Vimeo. Nothing is loaded from Vimeo until you press play, and then we request it with Vimeo's Do Not Track setting on, to limit player tracking; Vimeo still receives connection information and may use essential security cookies.
Reading a page does, unavoidably, involve your browser making requests to our host. What that entails, and what the analytics record, is set out below.
Hosting, and what a request records
This site is hosted by Vercel, which serves it from data centres around the world. Fetching a page sends your IP address, the address you asked for, and your browser's user-agent string to Vercel's servers, in the same way as visiting any website. Vercel processes that as our service provider, and records it in operational logs used to serve the site, keep it available, and mitigate attacks.
Those logs are retained for a limited period under Vercel's own policy and are not used by us for profiling or marketing. We use Vercel Speed Insights to collect anonymous, aggregated technical performance metrics (such as page load time, visual stability, and interaction responsiveness) to ensure the site remains fast and accessible. These measurements set no cookies, do not track you across sites, and cannot identify individual visitors. See the Vercel privacy policy for their handling and retention.
Article images may be served from an Amazon S3 bucket we control, in which case the same kind of request information reaches Amazon Web Services as our service provider.
Vercel Web Analytics
We also use Vercel Web Analytics to measure page visits, referring pages, device and browser types and approximate location. It runs independently of the Google Analytics choice and uses request-derived identifiers with a limited lifetime rather than analytics cookies. Vercel describes this processing in its Web Analytics privacy documentation. We use these statistics to understand website use and improve the site. The Google Analytics controls below do not disable this separate service.
What Google Analytics records
If you accept, Google Analytics loads on every page and records which pages you open and in what order, how long you stay, the link or search that brought you here, your device and browser, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address - country and region rather than a street. Google Analytics 4 uses IP addresses to derive approximate location and does not log or store the IP addresses. If you decline, none of this happens: the tag is never added to the page, so there is nothing to send.
We use this to see which pages are read and where people lose interest. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, we do not combine it with what the discovery form collects, and we do not use it for advertising or remarketing. Google processes it as our service provider under the Google Analytics terms.
You can opt out for every site that uses it with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this domain. Nothing on this site stops working if you do. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to change your choice at any time. If browser storage is unavailable, we apply your choice to the current page and show a message; it may not persist on your next visit. Rejecting after accepting disables Google Analytics on the current page and removes its cookies; when browser storage is available, the page also reloads with analytics disabled. Withdrawal does not erase analytics already sent.
The video on the homepage
The product video is hosted by Vimeo. Until you press play the page shows a still image from our own server and makes no request to Vimeo. Pressing play loads Vimeo's player, which sends your IP address and browser details to Vimeo in the same way as any embedded media. We request the player with Vimeo's Do Not Track setting on, to limit player tracking. Vimeo still receives the connection information needed to serve the video and may use essential security cookies. Vimeo handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.
What is stored in your browser
Your answer to the banner, so we do not ask on every page. It is kept in local storage under nova-analytics-consent and holds one word, granted or denied. It is not a cookie, is never sent to us, and identifies nobody.
If you accepted, Google Analytics then sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_MCFERW1FE5. They hold a randomly generated identifier that lets Google recognise the same browser returning to this site, so a repeat visit is not counted as a new person. By Google's default they expire two years after your last visit. Clearing site data for this domain removes them, and the identifier is not carried over to a new one. If you declined, neither cookie is ever written.
We do not add advertising identifiers or session storage on the public pages. The editor sign-in at /admin sets an authentication cookie for CareFlick staff who log in to publish articles. It is not set for visitors and is not used for tracking.
Booking a discovery call
The demo form asks for your name, work email, company name, the number of seniors you care for, your city and country, and how soon you are looking to adopt senior living software. It also records which page you opened the form from, so we know what prompted the enquiry.
When you submit it, that information is sent to our server and passed straight on to a Google Sheet we use to track enquiries. Google processes it under its own terms as a service provider to us. The submission is not stored on our servers; the row in the sheet is the only copy we keep, and we keep it for as long as we are following up with you.
If the connection to that sheet fails, the form says so and offers you a link that prepares an email to hello@careflick.com containing what you typed. Nothing is sent that way unless you follow the link and send it yourself.
Please do not enter resident names, health details or staff records in this form. It exists to arrange a conversation and is not a safe place for that information.

Articles and the blog
Reading an article is recorded the same way as any other page: the hosting request described above, and a Google Analytics page view if you accepted analytics. Articles are written by the CareFlick team in a content management system that runs on this same domain; it holds our own drafts and editor accounts, and nothing about the people who read the published result.
Limiting abuse of the form
To stop the demo form being submitted automatically in bulk, our server counts recent submissions per IP address and refuses too many from the same place. The count is held in memory for a few minutes and then discarded. It is never written to disk, never linked to a submission, and never used for any other purpose.
Your rights
Depending on the law and the processing involved, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your information. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal. Write to hello@careflick.com; we may need to verify your identity and will respond within the applicable legal deadline.
You may complain to your local data protection authority, including the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or the authority in your EU country of residence, work or the alleged infringement. You do not have to contact us first.

Who is responsible and why we process data

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on consent for optional analytics; our legitimate interests in answering business enquiries, maintaining business relationships and operating a secure website for enquiry handling and technical logs; and legal obligations where we must retain or disclose information. Providing an enquiry is voluntary, but we need the required contact and business details to arrange the requested conversation. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about visitors solely by automated means.
Retention and international processing
We retain enquiries and correspondence while following up, maintaining an active business relationship, or resolving a dispute or legal obligation. We assess continued need by the last meaningful contact, the purpose of the enquiry and applicable recordkeeping requirements. Analytics retention depends on the configured Google Analytics retention settings; cookie lifetime is described separately above. Hosting and security records follow the provider service and operational retention settings.
Our service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where UK or EU transfer restrictions apply, the relevant transfer must be covered by an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards, such as EU standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum or international data transfer agreement.
